Monty's Brewery

Beers brewed with sustainability in mind

Monty’s Brewery is based just a short distance from the ancient castle town of Montgomery

Monty’s Brewery was founded in 2008 by husband and wife team Russ and Pam Honeyman. Since then they have established the Welsh brewery as one of the leading breweries in Wales. In 2024 the brewery had major investment from Ubunto business holdings with plans to expand the brewery. Producing real ales of many styles, with a focus on gluten free beers, the Welsh brewery prides itself on its range having won many awards. Brewing a beer everyone can enjoy! A great range of brewery merchandise is available too.

Monty’s takes its sustainability responsibility to REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE and RECOVER very seriously. Here are just some of the things we do.

Reduce

  • Water usage within our refined cleaning regimes which make sure we don’t use too many chemicals, or too much rinse water

  • Energy usage by maximising energy recovery to heat water

  • Energy usage by adding extra insulation to our cold and warm rooms

  • Use of plastic shrink wrap by using pallet collars.

  • We do not use any plastic in our online packaging of Montys products

Reuse

  • Cardboard boxes by re-badging where possible.

  • Casks. Of course casks have always been recycled filled sent out, returned, cleaned, filled and reused.

Recycle

  • All glass, plastic and cardboard that cannot be used elsewhere

  • Grain into milk! We take the sugars and flavours out of the grain which leaves the proteins - Cows are very efficient at turning this into milk.

  • Waste beer (the bits that are too yeasty) into beef. A herd of Wagyu cattle have a few pints of Monty’s and then a nap!

Recover

  • Excess products have been used to make gin, chutney, Christmas puddings and beef jerky.

  • Hot water to be used for cleaning or the next brew.
