Monty’s Brewery has again won an award at the True Taste Awards.

This year Monty’s Sunshine has won a silver medal, to sit alongside the bronze won by Midnight last year.

We are very thrilled to have received this award as recognition by Welsh judges is very important to us. The category was the same as last year…beers, ciders and perrys under 10% so to get an award two years running in such a huge category is an overwhelming achievement.

Monty’s Brewery is celebrating

Monty’s Brewery is celebrating after winning a prestigious 2011 Great Taste Award. Monty’s Brewery has been presented with a coveted two-star Gold Great Taste Award for Sunshine

The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, are now in their 18th year and going from strength to strength. 7481 products were entered from 1600 companies for the 2011 Great Taste Awards. It took 350 experts 34 days to blind taste all the entries and decide which entries would achieve the coveted one, two and three star gold awards.

Bob Farrand, Chairman for The Great Taste Awards, said: “Winning Gold in the country’s largest and most respected independent food accreditation scheme is a massive pat on the back for any producer - independent proof their products are of the highest quality. We provide constructive feedback from our expert judging teams and for many, winning 1, 2 or 3-star Gold is exactly what’s needed to help grow their businesses, even during a recession. Every winner should feel very proud that their hard work has been rewarded.”

Monty’s Brewery is firmly on the map!

At the SIBA Wales and West competition at Ludlow Castle on the 6th May, Monty’s Brewery walked away with a hoard of 5 awards.

Ding Dong, which is the breweries Christmas beer won Bronze in the bottled golden beer category.

Mischief, which is a fabulous golden bitter won Bronze in the strong bitter category

Sunshine, which is the first recipe that Monty’s Brewery made, won Silver in the Best Bitters category and
Midnight won GOLD in the Porters, strong milds, old ales and stouts category.

All GOLD winners from each category then went on to be judged for Champion Beer of the competition, where Monty’s Midnight won Silver.

Midnight Wins Award

Monty’s Midnight wins the Bronze at the Wales True Taste Awards! The category was
beers, ciders and perrys under 10%, so we were thrilled with this award.

Powys Business Awards

Pam and the team at Monty’s Brewery had a wonderful evening at the Powys Business AWARDS and were thrilled to win the Business Start Up Award.

Judges Comments:

Its most men’s dream to own a brewery. So it comes as some surprise to find that Montys Brewery is the brainchild of a lady - Pam Honeyman. However the Judges recognise that this is one determined and formidable person. Armed with an industry qualification, she started brewing just 18 months ago and the resulting products soon gained a deserved reputation, winning numerous prestigious brewing awards. It’s the way that Monty’s have developed their market by following a well conceived strategic model that captured the Judges imagination. Success and profitability has quickly followed and the opening of their first real ale pub The Sportsman in Newtown demonstrates the business potential of this company.
